The Downtown Review: Building 8
December 17, 2022
Isn’t it such a hassle to have to walk all the way to Building 5 on an empty stomach? What if you’re on a tight schedule and have a class to join soon? Here are some quick and affordable eats right around the neighborhood so you don’t have to worry about being late to class again…
GoGo Fresh
GoGo Fresh offers a decent variety of fresh food, like in the title. The staff is nice, and the wait time is usually not too long. Their empanadas come in a variety of flavors including classic beef, alfajores Havana and Thai chicken. Their price ranges from $3-4 per empanada. If you are looking for a more filling meal, GoGo Fresh also offers salads. They tend to be on the pricier side-ranging from $10-15 – and they usually don’t put that much on them besides the lettuce – but if you are ever in a hurry, they are right around the corner from Building 8 and quickly prepared. They also have a good matcha if you are ever looking for one.
Caffee Fiorino
Within extremely close distance to building 8, Caffé Fiorino offers a large assortment of more breakfast-oriented dishes. They have a large coffee menu with prices ranging from $2-3 (not the best coffee in the world, but it will most certainly get the job done). They also have different types of sandwiches, croissants, and yogurt on the menu that are all affordable. Caffé Fiorino additionally provides combo meals, which consist of a cappuccino and croissant or a panini and soda for $5.
The Empanada’s
This is an amazing option if you are looking for something tasty, quick, and not too expensive. They offer a large assortment of empanadas, with lots of interesting and tasty flavors typically ranging from $3-5. With an even dough-to-filling ratio, I would highly recommend the ham and cheese or the spicy chicken empanada. The Empanada’s also sells vegetarian and vegan options, and all their pastries can be accompanied with add-on sauces like barbeque sauce, chimichurri, or sour cream. The staff is friendly and willing to answer any questions that you might have. An overall good eat!
